Hey, I’m Jeff. Thanks for checking out my blog. This thing started as a way to better retain what I was reading. I would read a great book, and then six months later, I couldn’t tell you much about why I liked it or what I learned. The book reviews I share here are far from comprehensive and most times will just be two or three of the main ideas that stuck with me once I put the book down.
In addition to book reviews, I’ll also try to include some thoughts on my current interests. At the moment, this will mostly revolve around financial technology (fintech), cryptocurrency, and macroeconomics. This is my first endeavor in putting my thoughts out there in the broader digital ether. While the whole thing makes me slightly uncomfortable, I take courage from these words from one of my favorite authors Dave Eggers:
“We share things for the obvious reasons: it makes us feel un-alone, it spreads the weight over a larger area, it holds the possibility of making our share lighter. And it can work either way – not simply as a pain-relief device, but, in the case of not bad news but good, as a share-the-happy-things-I’ve-seen/lessons-I’ve-learned vehicle. Or as a tool for simple connectivity for its own sake, a testing of waters, a stab at engagement with a mass of strangers.” (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius)
Thanks for taking a look at the blog. Happy reading 🙂
